Welcome to CardioQuickSys CardioQuickSys is a rapidly growing company in the medical equipment arena. We are focused on delivering breakthrough cardiac-related products that provide practical new ways to improve patient outcomes. The CardioQuick Patch - the Company's initial product - is now being introduced into the emergency departments of selected hospitals. The CardioQuick Patch® is a breakthrough medical device that delivers significantly more accurate and rapid placement of the precordial (chest) electrodes when performing a 12-lead electrocardiograph (EKG), compared to the age-old practice of using individually-placed single electrodes. Why is this important? For patients experiencing a cardiac event, accuracy and speed in securing a 12-lead EKG reading to guide diagnosis and treatment is the single most important factor for improving outcomes, including survival.
The current practice is for a nurse or EKG tech - or a paramedic - to manually place the six individual electrodes on the chest to get the 12-lead EKG reading. To properly place these electrodes, the practitioner must take the time to palpate (i.e feel) the underlying bone structure. This typically takes 2 to 3 minutes to do properly. Unfortunately, the vast majority of practitioners do not take the time to palpate before placing the electrodes, preferring instead to "eyeball" the location based on past experience. Research has proven that electrode misplacement of as little as two centimeters can alter the EKG reading and lead to errors in diagnosis and treatment.
This widely-accepted bad practice of “eyeballing” electrode placement adversely effects patient outcomes, including morbidity and mortality levels. By comparison, the CardioQuick Patch substantially improves the accuracy, consistency and speed of the EKG reading. The Patch accomplishes this by incorporating the six precordial leads within an adjustable harness that is placed across the torso. The electrodes are pre-positioned to accurately fit 75% of all patients without adjustment, and an additional 20% of patients with a simple, quick adjustment of one or more of the leads. The Patch can be applied in just 25 seconds. In a year-long, independent study utilizing EMT Basics (non-paramedics) conducted by Ohio’s EMS Medical Director for Region 5, there was a 97.4% accuracy rate when applying the precordial leads using the Patch. This compares to accuracy down in the 50% to 80% range documented in studies of individually-placed single electrodes by either hospital or EMS personnel – confirming the Patch as a significant improvement in securing accurate EKG results, which can lead to better patient outcomes. In addition in this study, the CardioQuick Patch reduced “door-to-balloon” time by 31 minutes versus the time for patients on whom single electrodes were used. (Note that “door-to-balloon” time, i.e. the time from patient acquisition to initial treatment, is a major factor in survival and disability rates, and is a critical performance measure for hospitals and EMS units.) | | Recent News | The Center for Health Transformation (CHT) announced it has partnered with CardioQuickSys, a company committed to delivering breakthrough cardiac diagnostic products that provide practical new ways to improve patient outcomes. CHT is working with CardioQuickSys to bring its CardioQuick Patch to the forefront of healthcare transformation. The CardioQuick Patch has been recognized for its ability to improve the accuracy, speed and consistency of 12-Lead EKG electrode placement. “The CardioQuick Patch has the potential to become a new ‘best practice’ for obtaining a 12-lead EKG reading. This could save the lives of or reduce the level of injury to tens of thousands of heart attack patients each year who might otherwise take longer to accurately diagnose and treat,” said Michael Price, the company’s Founder and CEO. CHT President and CEO Nancy Desmond said, “The CardioQuick Patch offers a step-change improvement in quickly and accurately diagnosing heart-related problems. We’re thrilled to help accelerate its adoption as a best practice in EKG electrode placement.” CHT Founder and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said, “We are delighted to partner with CardioQuickSys. The CardioQuick Patch is a prime example of the innovation required to improve the quality of patient care and at the same time reduce total system costs -- exactly what’s needed for a 21st century intelligent health system.” | | |
