CardioQuick Patch Reimbursement

CMS has assigned the CardioQuick Patch a HCPCS code (A 4556) to submit claims for reimbursement. Medicare/Medicaid will consider reimbursement for the CardioQuick Patch assuming the patient meets the coverage criteria, which is the same procedure CMS utilizes for all claims.

 

The CardioQuick Patch is eligible for reimbursement in any hospital outpatient setting, for patients covered by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurers. This includes outpatients in a hospital's Emergency Department, an Ambulatory Surgery center, a Clinic or a Critical Access Hospital (25 beds or less).

The CardioQuick Patch is also eligible for reimbursement in physician offices for patients covered by Medicaid or private insurers.

In the above circumstances, the CardioQuick Patch will reimbursed as a covered supply under the HCPCS code, in addition to the reimbursement of the EKG prodedure unders its CPT code. Under their contract to CMS, the Statistical Analysis Durable Medical Equipment Regional Carrier (SADMERC) advised that this code should be used to identify the CardioQuick Patch.
